Steven Tyler, Sen Dog Join 'Cherry Roses' At Randy Castillo Tribute
Steven Tyler made a surprise appearance at a sold-out tribute to the late drummer Randy Castillo staged at the Key Club in Los Angeles Monday (April 29) night.

Castillo, who played drums for Ozzy Osbourne and, most recent, replaced Tommy Lee in Motley Crue, died of cancer March 26 at the age of 51.

Tyler appeared for a rendition of the Aerosmith hit "Mama Kin" at the tail end of a set that was jokingly referred to by organizers alternately as Cherry Roses or Buck N' Guns because it featured former Guns N' Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum and Buckcherry singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson. That set also included a rap on the GN'R hit "Paradise City" courtesy of Cypress Hill's Sen Dog.

Most of the performers, including members of Nickelbag, Montrose, and Ball, told stories and paid tribute to the late drummer from the stage. Several comedians including MTV's Andy Dick helped lighten the mood, and friends and associates formed a drum circle in honor of his chosen instrument.

Ozzy Osbourne did not attend the event, apparently a victim of a full dance card thanks to his hit TV series and pending tour. A source close to the production pointed out that the Osbournes had shown their support of Castillo by writing checks throughout his illness and paying for all funeral costs.

Organizers confirm that some of the funds raised at the tribute event will be donated to the NARAS MusiCares program, while the remainder will go to establish a scholarship fund in Castillo's hometown of Albuquerque, N.M.
